  • ROWING: India’s Dattu Bhokanal qualifies for the quarter-finals after he finishes third in the Heat 1 of Men’s single sculls. His timing was 7:21.67.
  • India’s Ayonika Paul and Apurvi Chandela have failed to go past the qualification round. Chandela (411.6) finished 34th while Ayonika could only manage a 43rd spot with a final score of 407.
  • Rupinder, Raghunath help India beat Ireland 3-2 in hockey opener.
  • Table Tennis: Mouma Das of India lost 2-11, 7-11, 7-11, 3-11 to Daniela Monteiro Dodean in women’s singles first round to bow out of Rio 2016.

  • In his first round match, Soumyajit Ghosh lost to Thailand’s Tanviriyavechakul Padasak 8-11, 6-11, 14-12, 6-11, 11-13.
  • India’s campaign in Table Tennis ends with Sharath Kamal losing 1st round match 8-11, 12-14, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11 to Romania’s Crisan.
  • India’s Mirabai Chanu finishes 11th in Women’s 48 kg weightlifting.
  • Doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Prarthana Thombare make first round exit, losing 6(6)-7, 7-5, 5-7 to Chinese Shuai Peng and Zhang Shuai.
