Its official now Modi wears the costliest suit in the world

Narendra Modi Suit

Guinness Book of World Records officially declares that India’s most famous suit worn by PM Narendra Modi is costliest suit in the world.

In February this year, 62-year old Laljibhai Patel, a Surat-based diamond merchant bought the suit at an auction for over Rs 4.3 crore, making it the most expensive suit ever auctioned. The money was assigned for the Prime Minister’s Namaami Gange Trust fund to clean the River Ganga.

The monogrammed, pinstriped, ‘bandhgala’ suit made headlines last year because of a very specific sartorial feature – its stripes were made of repetitions of a single motif: the Prime Minister’s name, Narendra Damodardas Modi.

It was stitched by Jade Blue, an Ahmedabad-based garments chain.

The suit made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the “most expensive suit (clothing) sold at auction”, news agency ANI reported on Saturday.
