Piers Morgan proposes Rs 1 million challenge to Virender Sehwag

Morgan-sehwag

The Twitter battle between Virender Sehwag and British journalist Piers Morgan is becoming intense with the TV news presenter betting England would win a Cricket World Cup before India could win an Olympic gold. Realising that India have already won several Olympic golds in past, Morgan removed his post and retracted with “another Olympic gold medal” after getting trolled for his factual error. Not only this, Morgan also bet Rs 1 million to charity on his challenge.

The Twitter battle between Sehwag and Morgan was triggered on August 24 when the latter took a pot shot at India’s ‘over celebration’ of Rio Olympics medals, and her inability to win at the Rio Olympics, despite being the country with 1.2 billion people. “Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?”.

Morgan’s jibe at India was received with sarcasm by Indian Twitterati who mocked him for England’s inability to win the Cricket World Cup and the Football World Cup since 1966. Sehwag too couldn’t stop himself from commenting. “We cherish every small happiness’, But Eng who invented Cricket,&yet2win a WC,still continue to playWC.Embarrassing?” he tweeted.

Responding to Sehwag’s jibe, Mogan admitted that it was embarassing that England have not won a Cricket World Cup till now. However, he pointed out that England could have won if Kevin Pietersen was in the team. “Very embarrassing, Legend. If @KP24 was playing, we’d win the WC. Just as we won T20 WC & he was Man of Series.”
However, Sehwag didn’t stop just there, tweeting, “KP is a legend no doubt, bt wasnt he born in SA, & by ur logic Eng shd hv won 2007 WC. Why hv prblm wid our ppl, celbrtng”.
