Keshav Prasad Maurya , one of the people many credit for the BJP’s landslide win in Uttar Pradesh, was on Thursday admitted to intensive care at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

“The BJP leader has problems related to blood pressure and will remain under observation today. He will be discharged tomorrow,” Hospital officials told ANI.

Maurya, BJP’s Uttar Pradesh state unit president, was considered one of the frontrunners for the post of UP Chief Minister, although he himself ruled out that possibility earlier today.

“My responsibility is to finalise the name of the UP CM. How can anyone pick my own name?” Maurya said earlier today.

“With all your good wishes and love, I am fine, Maurya tweeted.

Meanwhile, BJP’s national president, Amit Shah, also claimed that he had given Maurya the responsibility of “selecting the next Chief Minister”.
“We will give our stamp of approval to Keshav’s pick”, Shah said. Other than Maurya, the names doing the rounds for the post of UP CM include minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha, Union home minister Rajnath Singh, and firebrand MP Yogi Adityanath. BJP’s UP in charge for elections Om Mathur said no decision had been taken yet as the party leadership was focusing on the situation in Goa and Manipur.
