Rajasthan HC acquits Salman Khan in blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases

Salman Khan defamation case

JODHPUR: The Rajasthan high court on Monday acquitted Salman Khan in the Jodhpur blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases.

Khan was accused of killing one of the animals in Bhawad on the outskirts of Jodhpur on September 26, 1998, and another in Ghoda Farms on September 28, 1998.

At that time of the alleged incidents Khan was shooting for the film “Hum Sath Sath Hain” in Jodhpur.

Salman has appealed before the high court challenging the lower court’s verdict that had handed him one and five years’ imprisonment, respectively, in the two separate cases of poaching.

The court held that the pellets recovered from the Chinkaras were not fired from Khan’s licensed gun. The driver of the jeep that was used by Khan and his co- stars on their alleged hunting mission has been missing, weakening the prosecution’s case against the movie star.
