As India celebrates its 70th year of Independence, the Google doodle showcases the Indian Parliament House, with Nehru at the centre delivering the historic Tryst with Destiny speech. With the updation of Google Doodle, the search trends for Indian Independence Day has subsequently shot up.
India achieved its independence on August 15, 1947, after nearly 200 years of colonial rule. The territory of India, finally ceased to exist under the British dominion. The then chief of Indian National Congress, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, presided over as the first Prime Minister of the nation. The first non-colonial government formed in India stuck to the principles of democracy, and adopted secularism as the state religion.
The Independence Day celebration would begin from Monday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address the nation early in the morning from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Simultaneously, the chief ministers of their respective states would also address their constituents after conducting the flag-hoisting ceremony. Government places, schools, many social groups, societies will also hoist Indian flags and celebrate independence day with cultural programs.
