Jaago, the first single from Rock On 2 song list, is finally here and Farhan Akhtar, who is easily not the most melodious singer around, is back on the stage and screaming and singing and screaming and singing and so on, in that order.

The song has been composed by the music directors of the first Rock On!! film – Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and Jaggo does have a very catchy hookline. The bandmates – Adi (Farhan), Joe (Arjun Rampal), KD (Purab Kohli) perform in a front of a huge crowd with the Gateway of India serving as backdrop.

Farhan’s vocals, which, somehow, worked in the first film sound jaded and trite in Jaago and one would wish for the full soundtrack to hit the internet as soon as possible, to get a better understanding of the sequel’s music.

Rock On 2 has been directed by Shujaat Saudagar. The first film’s director Abhishek Kapoor is not involved with the project. He directed the Aditya Roy Kapur-Katrina Kaif-starrer Fitoor earlier this year.

The new film sees the return of Magik’s usual members minus Rob (Luke Kenny) who passed away in the end of the first film. Along with them, Rock On 2 has two new additions, Shraddha Kapoor as Jiah, who has reportedly sung three songs in the film, and Brahman Naman actor Shashank Arora who is playing Uday, the bassist of Magik.

Rock On 2, releases on November 11 this year.
