The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has finalized a list of 30 names who would be included in the third list of candidates the party will release in Punjab. Apart from the 30 candidates of Punjab, the party has also given a final nod for the 10 candidates who have been nominated in Goa. The PAC actively discussed the character and strengths of these candidates with the active AAP volunteers in the constituency, before giving a final approval. According to reports, veteran journalist Kanwar Sandhu and former Congress stalwart Sukhpal Singh Khaira are part of the list set to be released in Punjab. They have been selected as candidates from Kharar and Boluth constituencies respectively, reports claimed.
The total number of seats in Punjab is 117. Earlier, AAP had released 32 names. With additional 30 announced, only 55 electoral tickets from the party would be up for grab. Meanwhile, in Goa, the party is expected to fight all 40 seats. While 10 names have been announced now, the party would further scrutinize the list to announce the candidates for the remaining seats. AAP has high prospects moving into both the poll bound states.While Punjab is being ruled by Akali-BJP coalition, Goa has a full majority BJP government. As per internal surveys of AAP, the party is expected to replicate the results of Delhi in Punjab. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal raised expectations in Goa, by claiming that AAP could win 35 of the 40 seats in the state.
