Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday gifts three hydel projects Kol Dam (800 mw), Parbati ( 540 mw) and Rampur ( 412 MW) to the state. This is the first time Modi has visited the state after becoming the Prime Minister.
Highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address in Mandi:
- “The world is now talking about our Army. We used to hear about similar feats of the Israeli army. But now everyone knows Indian Army is no less,” PM Modi said while addressing a Parivartan Rally.
- Modi said Mandi is the land of the brave and that every family in the district has a member in the Army. Mandi, he said, is a “mini-Kashi” and that he is happy to bow his head at a land which is both a “devbhoomi” (sacred land) and a “veerbhumi” (land of the brave).
- He also talked about One Rank One Pension (OROP), that has been fulfilled by his government. “The One Rank One Pension was hanging for 40 years, and it is our government which completed that work. Not only soldiers but their families bless me,” he said.
- The people of Himachal have hearts as big as the Himalayas, he added.
Health Minister JP Nadda, former Himachal Pradesh chief ministers Shanta Kumar and PK Dhumal, state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti, BJYM president Anurag Thakur among others attended the programme.
Accompanied by Union Power Minister Piyush Goel, Modi also inaugurated three hydropower projects in Mandi district today: 800 MW Koldam project executed by National Thermal Power Corporation, 530 MW Parvati Stage II project of National Hydropower Corporation, and 412 MW Rampur hydropower project of Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam.
