Austin Waugh son of Steve Waugh score ton in Cricket

Austin Waugh has top-scored for Metro NSW with an unbeaten century in the final of the national under-17 cricket championships.

The son of former Australian captain Steve Waugh scored 122 from 136, with four fours and four sixes, in the one-day final against Queensland.

Thanks to Junior Waugh’s knock, New South Wales Metro posted 274/6 in 50 overs. In reply, Queensland were bundled out for 122 in 34.1 overs, handing Metro a huge 152-run victory. Austin and Aiden Bariol (85) had a 199-run partnership for the 5th wicket.

Austin Waugh finished the tournament with 372 runs from 8 innings at an average of 74.4. He remained not out in 3 innings and took 5 catches in the tournament.

Batting great Waugh Senior played in an Australian joint record of 168 Tests. He held the record for a long time before Ricky Ponting (also 168 Tests) equalled it. Waugh’s twin brother Mark featured in 128 Tests. Overall, the world record belongs to Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who won 200 Test caps.
