After surgical strikes by India terrorists opened fire outside in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in early hours Thursday. They attacked an 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Langate in Handwara. Heavy gunfire was heard in the region, prompting the security forces to retaliate, army said.
“At around 5 AM, militants opened firing on an army camp at Langate in Kupwara district, which was retaliated by the alert jawans,” an army official told PTI, adding that, “The troops were alert and the attack was foiled.”
The stand-off firing lasted for around 20 minutes and no casualties have been reported in the exchange. Search operations are still on.
Three days ago, militants attacked an army camp in Baramullah where one BSF soldier lost his life. On September 18, terrorists belonging to Pakistan’s militant outfit Jaish-e-mohammad attacked an army camp in Uri killing 19 army soldiers.
