Learning from the past, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University will make use of the OMR-based verification cards to ensure impersonation-free examinations in the 400-odd colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Appearing for the semester examination from December 6, the students will fill in their roll number, question paper code and answer copy number on a verification card for each exam.
The verification card, collected from all examinees, will be tallied with the answer copies to match the details— roll number, subject code and answer copy number—during evaluation.
“The move will serve a dual purpose. One, if the student has by chance made a typo, it will come to our knowledge. Two, there will be absolutely no chances of impersonation, which is a big challenge for us,” said controller of examinations JP Pandey.
After successful digital evaluation of these three courses in which copies were barcoded, scanned and uploaded to university web server, the decision of complete digitization was taken during a meeting on Tuesday. The decision to show scanned copies to parents and students was also taken.
The answer copies are available in digital form and can be made available to students within 2-3 days. Earlier, it took a month’s time to make them available under RTI, he added.
