Tiger Shroff is flying high — quite literally. Even as he pays a fitting tribute to his idol Michael Jackson in the forthcoming Munna Michael, he also gets a chance to live out another hero’s life in the Hindi version of the season’s big blockbuster Spiderman —The Homecoming.
Apparently, Tiger was chosen to lend his voice to the teen super-hero because of his instant connect with the youth. “Youngsters especially kids love Tiger. We decided he was the best candidate to dub for Spiderman. Even that anglicised diction helped because we wanted the desi Spiderman to retain his firangi touch,” says a source close to the development.
Tiger seems delighted with the opportunity to be the desi voice of Spiderman played by Tom Holland. “It was half-a-dream come-true. Half, because I got to dub for Spiderman. But I’d like to play the superhero someday.” Tiger says the challenge was to make Spiderman accessible to the Hindi-speaking audiences without losing the superhero’s global appeal. “I’ve to admit, it is one of the most challenging (albeit fun) things I’ve done in my movie career so far,” he says.
Incidentally, Tiger played a desi turbaned Sikh superhero in The Flying Jatt and so did Diljeet Dosanjh, but both films flopped at the box office. “I guess super-heroes only work when they fly in from abroad,” concludes Tiger.
