Two persons were injured, while one had a narrow escape, when they were travelling in a carrier vehicle PB32P-3429 Tata 407 on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway in wee hours of Wednesday. The police said the vehicle was on its way from Mandi towards Manali carrying chicken to supply in the region. When near Pandoh, a big boulder rolled down from the hillside and hit the vehicle. As a result, two persons in the vehicle sustained injures, while the third had a miraculous escape. The vehicle was damaged badly and nearly 600 chickens killed on the spot. The injured were Surender Singh (51), a native of Shkora village, and Gurbachan of Sohna village in Nawanshahr district of Punjab, while Kripal Singh (48) of Sohna village had a narrow escape. The injured victims were rushed to the Mandi hospital and stated to be out of danger. Similarly, there was a landslide at Hanogi temple again, which damaged the surrounding building of the temple. The loss was assessed in lakhs. According to eyewitnesses, bid boulders rolled down from the hillside in the area, which directly hit the building. As a result, the lanter of the building collapsed. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident. It was the second time when the temple premises were damaged because of the landslide. Additional District Magistrate Mandi Rajiv Kumar said the road was restored within one hour for traffic after removing the boulders and the muck from the road side on the Chandigarh-Manali NH-21. This rainy season, two incidents have been reported in Mandi district on the route from Mandi towards Kullu. The long stretch of road from Mandi to the Aut tunnel is prone to landside.
