A Kashmir college girl has come under attack for publicly trashing pro- azadi protests.
pro- azadi protests
A day after she spoke out, boys from a college in south Kashmir’s Anantnag erupted with pro- azadi protests after police apparently tried to unfurl the national flag on the campus during an official event.
The students went on the rampage, setting a tent and hoardings on fire. The girl, who has troll on social media, also studies in a government college in Anantnag.
South Kashmir has the nerve centre of a fresh azadi groundswell in Kashmir and the reactions – both online and on the ground – show the situation has remained volatile in the area despite a crackdown by the National Investigation Agency on separatists.
Aneesa, an NCC cadet and one of the dozens from Kashmir who participated in an event in Sainik School in Nagrota on Jammu outskirts, had publicly denounced azadi and stone-throwing at the event yesterday.
“Please don’t go towards bad things like protests, stone-pelting or sloganeering for azadi. Azadi is nothing,” she said.
Aneesa said she was the only girl from her college who participate in the event as many others were discourage by their parents. “I am enjoying here a lot. I want to suggest all the girls to come forward. If you want life, it is here. It is the Indian Army that is going to bring you (the joys of) life.”
She later troll on Facebook after a video of her speech went viral.
chief minister Nirmal Singh:
Deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh, who is from the BJP, said the girl had spoken the mind of the Kashmiri people. “It is the actual feeling of young minds of Jammu and Kashmir, especially of Kashmir. The youth here want peace and development and believe their future is safe in the largest democracy (of the world),” he said.
The girl’s remarks stood out, given the protests the Valley had witnessed following the death of militant poster boy Burhan Wani last year.
What happened today in the boys’ college underscored the dangers of espousing such views. Massive clashes broke out in the college after the police, who were organising a sports event, reportedly unfurled the Tricolour. The event was to be inaugurate by south Kashmir deputy inspector-general of police S.P. Pani.
The police had to use tear-gas shells and canes to disperse the students who threw stones at them.
College officials denied that a Tricolour had torched. A police officer claim its not a Tricolour but a multi-coloured flag.
