Tata Group has been announced as the title sponsor for the 15th edition Mumbai Marathon 2018. The official name of the event is now Tata Mumbai Marathon.

The Mumbai Marathon is one of Asia’s largest and richest running races. In 2017, the Mumbai Marathon prize money of $386,667 was one of the highest awards in marathon globally.

With this sponsorship deal coming through, Tata Group now sponsors three marathons. Tata Group (TCS) sponsors the New York City Marathon (the largest in the world) and Amsterdam Marathon.

The Mumbai Marathon was sponsored by Standard Chartered for 14 years, from 2004 to 2017. According to media reports financial woes had prompted the bank to pull out of the sponsorship deal.

Mumbai Marathon is the property of Procam International Pvt. Ltd. Procam is a Mumbai-based sports management company. Procam International also owns other road races in India such as the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, Tata Consultancy Services World 10K Bangalore, and Tata Steel Kolkata 25K. Bollywood actor John Abraham has been the face of the event since 2008.

The 2018 Mumbai Marathon will be held on January 21, 2018. Registrations for the Marathon Race category on August 2.
