The Delhi government has directed all its departments and autonomous bodies to adopt digital mode of transactions and make payments to contractors and suppliers electronically.
Besides, it has also asked all department heads to promote e-payments and give wide publicity to make people aware about it.
Finance department
In this regard, the city government’s finance department has already issued a circular asking all its departments to adopt digital mode of payments at the earliest.
“The government wants all payments by departments to done through electronic mode. It asked all department heads to promote e-payments and ensure people too made aware about it,” said a government official.
“Heads of departments and autonomous bodies have asked that payment should made to contractors, suppliers and institutions through digital mode,” a senior government official.
He also said that the payments could made through Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and Electronic Clearing Service (ECS).
Digitalisation
Noting that the step is another move to complete digitalisation of government work, the official added the heads of departments and autonomous bodies have asked that payment should made to contractors, suppliers and institutions electronically.
Secretaries, principal secretaries and heads of other autonomous bodies have also asked to give wide publicity to promote digital mode of transactions. Payments thus could made through Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and Electronic Clearing Service (ECS).
The government’s move is in sync with the Centre’s thrust to promote digitisation of payments in the backdrop of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes last November.
