Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar came in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachhata Hi Seva campaign to take part in cleanliness drive in streets of Mumbai today. As per ANI, he took part in campaign in the Bandra locality of the Maharashtra capital. Earlier he, along with Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Nita Ambani had agreed to be part of it. As part of the prime minister’s Clean India project, these celebrities had agreed to lead cleanliness campaign in Mumbai, officials said. The government had also telecast Toilet: Ek Prem Katha on Doordarshan as part of the campaign, PTI said.
‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign
Apart from them, Two personalities from Assam, singer Papon and actress Madhurima had also agreed to be part of ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written letter to personalities across different fields, including sports, cinema and industry, urged for their support to ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ movement, saying it is the noblest service, agency added. As per PTI, the prime minister in his letter had also cited Mahatma Gandhi’s beliefs and said the people in the country should participate in cleanliness initiatives in the countryahead of Gandhi Jayanti.
On Friday, superstar Rajinikanth extended support his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachhata Hi Seva” mission. In a tweet, the actor said, “I extend my full support to our hon. Prime Minister @narendramodi ji’s #SwachhataHiSeva mission. Cleanliness is godliness.”
