Director Hansal Mehta’s Simran featuring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role has passed the double-digit mark and has minted Rs 12.06 crore by day 4. Simran may not have got the best reviews and earnings matching its pre-release hype, but it has managed to earn a decent figure by the end of its opening weekend. Director Hansal Mehta in the past made movies like CityLights, Shahid and Aligarh. Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh earlier today shared the numbers of the film through Twitter. He wrote, “#Simran Fri 2.77 cr, Sat 3.76 cr, Sun 4.12 cr, Mon 1.41 cr. Total: ₹ 12.06 cr. India biz.”

According to Bollywood Hungama, Simran has managed to enjoy a weekend similar to that of her biggest solo success, Queen. The 2014 film, earned Rs 1.80 crore on its opening day, Rs 10 crore by the end of its Opening Weekend, Rs 18.80 by the end of Week 1 and its overall life time collection was Rs 61 crore. Simran, on the other hand, garnered Rs 2.77 crore in the first day, the film showed an upward trend on Saturday by accumulating Rs 3.76 crore and on Sunday it had earned Rs 4.12 crore. In the movie, Kangana is playing the role of a Gujarati girl named Praful Patel. This movie is Kangana Ranaut’s second release this year after ‘Rangoon’.
Farhan Akhtar starrer Lucknow Central was also released on the same day on which Simran was released. By the end of day 3, Lucknow Central garnered Rs 2.04 cr on its first day and by the end of its opening weekend, it has earned Rs 8.42.

According to Indian Express, a few days back Ranaut had got embroiled in a controversy when she called Karan Johar the ‘movie mafia’, ‘the flag bearer of nepotism’ on the chat show, ‘Koffee With Karan.’
