Two militants neutralised in an encounter in the Sopore township of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday, the police said. The slain militants are believed to be of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit.
The security forces got specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Check-e-Brath area of Sopore, following which they launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.

As the forces were conducting the search operation, the militants fired on them. The forces retaliated, resulting in an encounter in which two militants gunned down. One AK-47 and a pistol recovered from the slain militants.
More terrorists believe to have trapped in the area and the encounter currently underway. Search operations also conducted.
Pantha Chowk area:
On September 1, one jawan martyred and four others injured when militants attacked a bus carrying security personnel near Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar.
Last month, the security forces had gunned down Hizbul Mujahideen’s top operational commander for Kashmir Yasin Itoo alias Mehmood Ghaznavi, along with two other militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
On August 1, the security forces, in a big blow to the LeT, had gunned down its divisional commander Abu Dujana after a seven-hour gunfight in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The mastermind behind the Pampore and Udhampur attacks, Dujana killed after an intelligence tip-off that he was to visit Rukiya, allegedly his wife, in Hakripora village in Pulwama.
