Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is all set to add another feather to its cap. It will soon have ‘driverless’ trains on its metro route, which will come via the Magenta Line – it will start functioning within a month. Travellers will save not just money, but also their valuable time by using this brand new metro route. The Magenta line metro route is a 38 kilometre stretch from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden. The route will touch some stations on the Violet and Yellow lines as well, which will make it easier for commuters to travel to South Delhi. As per the Indian Express report, the Magenta line is expected to cater to 4 lakh passengers.

However, this new metro route is seen as a breather for Noida residents. For travelling to South Delhi, they had to change trains at Mandi House. But now, they can directly travel to Kalkaji Mandir and change from there onwards. “Once the entire corridor from Botanical Garden till Janakpuri West (38.23 km) is opened, commuters from Noida will be able to go to Gurgaon by changing trains at Hauz Khas. This will help in decongesting Rajiv Chowk, which is currently the interchange point for travellers between Noida and Gurgaon,” a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson told Times of India. The route will also cater to two major educational institutions- Amity University & Jamia Milia Islamia. It will also be easy for metro commuters to reach Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and even the domestic Terminal 1 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and will save a lot of their time.
