Around 2 pm on Sunday, 10 students of Galgotias University finished attending class and decided to head to a multiplex in Greater Noida to watch a movie. The students were in a white Mahindra Xylo, which was being driven by Tushar Gupta (21). Tushar was driving fast and the others asked him to stick to the speed limit. “However, he started overtaking vehicles. Minutes later, there was a loud noise. The vehicle went out of control and hit the divider,” Sharif Ahmad, one of the occupants of the car, said.

The accident, which took place near Noida International University on Yamuna Expressway left four students. Two others suffered severe injuries and rushed to a private hospital in Greater Noida, police said.  “Apart from Tushar, the other deceased have been identified as Salman Yusuf, who hails from Patna, Balram Chaudhary, whose family lives in Bihar’s Araria district, and Ayush Das, a resident of Delhi’s Vivek Vihar.

Tushar was pursuing an undergraduate engineering course and living in Greater Noida’s Beta sector. He had driven to Galgotias University to attend his classes. We are in the process of contacting their families. The bodies have sent for post-mortem. We waiting for the families to file a complaint, following which an FIR will  registered. Tushar’s father is a businessman in Etah district,” Farmood Ali Punder, SHO, Dankaur police station, said.
According to police, the front right tyre of the SUV seemed to have burst while the rear wheels also found to loose.

“Prima facie, it seems the car being driven at a very high speed. The car badly damaged; the windshield shattered,” a senior police officer said.

The district police further maintained that the car belonged to Tushar’s uncle. “Based on the information we have received so far, the car belonged to his uncle who lives in Greater Noida. Since it Karva Chauth today, his uncle and the rest of the family had gone out of town, probably to Etah. Tushar alone at home and took the car out to go to college,” a police officer said.
