IBPS RRB recruitment 2017 : The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) on Saturday issued a notification for the recruitment of Group ‘A’ officers (Scale I, II and III) and Group ‘B’ office assistants (multipurpose) in participating regional rural banks (RRBs).

The notification (CRP RRBs-VI) for 15,171 tentative vacancies can be seen on the IBPS’s official website. Out of the total posts, 5,123 are for officers scale I, 1,581 posts for officers scale II, 169 posts for officers scale III and 8,298 posts for office assistants. Interested candidates need to apply online for the examination that will be held across the country tentatively between September and November 2017.

For those who want to apply for the posts of officers scale I and office assistants (multipurpose), the online examination will be held in two phases: preliminary and main. Candidates who apply for the post of office assistants will be provisionally allotted on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the main examination and the vacancies reported by the RRBs.

For the post of officers scale I, candidates clearing the preliminary examination will have to appear for the main examination and shortlisted candidates will then be called for an interview.

Those who want to appear for officers scale II and scale III will have to take a single online examination and the shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.

The online registration process begins on July 24 and will continue till August 8, 2017. The online preliminary examination for officer scale I will be held on September 9 and September 10 and September 16, 2017 (if required), while for office assistants it will be held on September 17 and 23 and September 24 (if required). The results of the online preliminary examination for officer scale I and office assistant will be declared in October 2017.

The main examination for officers (I, II and III) will be held on November 5, 2017, while for office assistant it will be held on November 12, 2017. The declaration of results of main (for officers scale I, II and III) will be done in November 2017 and their interview will be conducted in December 2017.

The provisional allotment of banks to successful candidates (for officers scale I, II and III and office assistants) will be made in January 2018. All these dates are tentative.

A candidate can apply for the post of office assistant and can also apply for that of an officer. However, a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for officer scale I or scale II or scale III. Candidates have to apply separately and pay fees/intimation charges separately for each post applied for.

Eligibility criteria (Age)

Age (As on 01.07.2017)

Scale- III (Senior Manager)- Above 21 years – Below 40 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.07.1977 and later than 30.06.1996 (both dates inclusive)

Scale – II (Manager)- Above 21 years – Below 32 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.07.1985 and later than 30.06.1996 (both dates inclusive)

Scale- I (Assistant Manager)- Above 18 years – Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.07.1987 and later than 30.06.1999 (both dates inclusive)

Office Assistant (Multipurpose) – Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.07.1989 and later than 01.07.1999 (both dates inclusive)

Note: There is an age relaxation for reserved category candidates (see in notification below).

Preliminary exam pattern

The preliminary examination will be of 45-minute duration, with two sections carrying 80 marks for 80 questions.

For officer scale I there will be 40 questions of reasoning and 40 questions of quantitative aptitude while for office assistant there will be 40 questions of reasoning and 40 questions of numerical ability. The medium of exam will be Hindi/English.

To be successful (for both posts), one needs to qualify in both the tests by securing a minimum cut-off marks set by the IBPS.
