The new Skoda Kodiaq SUV has finally gone on sale in India today and we have all the highlights from the launch event here. We have already driven the new Kodiaq and told you all about it and this is the first seven-seater SUV from Skoda India. The Skoda Kodiaq is built on the same MQB platform as the Volkswagen Tiguan and in India, along with its German counterpart the Kodaiq will also rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Isuzu MU-X. The new Skoda Kodiaq SUV has launched in India in only one – Style – variants and priced at Rs. 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Skoda features
Skoda India offering the India-spec Skoda Kodiaq will offered in only one powertrain option for now – a 2-litre diesel engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The new DQ500 diesel engine makes about 148 bhp at 3,500-4,000 rpm and develops a peak torque of 340 Nm at 1,750-3,000 rpm. The Kodiaq gets 4×4 as standard, which is on all the time with the torque vectoring system delivering 96 per cent of the torque to the front wheels. Upon requirement, it could send up to 50 per cent of the torque to the rear wheels as well.
The interior of the new Skoda Kodiaq, on the other hand, gets a more luxurious treatment with a well laid-out dashboard with soft-touch plastic and wooden panels. At the centre you get a large 8-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include ambient lighting, hands-free park-assist, electric sunroof, and more.
