Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on October 10, 2016 notified the test dates for the National Eligibility Test on behalf of the University Grants’ Commission. The UGC NET exam would be conducted by CBSE on January 22, 2017 (Sunday) across various centers in the country. The exam is a qualifier for Eligibility for Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian Universities and Colleges. The online application forms would be available on the official website cbsenet.nic.in from October 17, 2016.
Important Dates for CBSE UGC NET 2017
- Start of Online Application Form/ Registrations: October 17, 2017
- Last Date for Applying Online: November 16, 2016
- Last Date for submission of Fee: November 17 2016
- Correction in Particulars of Application on Website: from November 22 till November 29, 2016
- Admit Card Download: December, 21, 2016
- Date of Examination: January 22, 2016
UGC NET 2017 Examination Fee:
General category: INR 600
Other Backward Classes: INR 300
SC/ST/ PwD candidates: INR 150
Interested candidates can make the fee payment either through debit/credit card online or at the branches of Syndicate/ Canara/ HDFC/ ICICI Banks by means of e-Challan generated at the time of filling the application. Candidates should note that additional processing charges would be applicable in case of payments made through debit/ credit card to the tune of 0.75% (in case of debit card) and 1% in case of credit card aong with additional taxes as applicable. Also, the fee is non-refundable.
Eligibility for CBSE UGC NET 2017:
Candidates with a master’s degree or equivalent in humanities (languages included), social science, computer science and application, electronic sciences, etc., from a UGC recognized institute are eligible to apply for the examinations. The minimum percentage requirement in the master’s examination for general category applicants is 55% and for the OBC, SC, ST and PwD applicants, the minimum cut off is 50%. Candidates who are in their final years of master’s programs and the results are awaited can also apply. These candidates if qualified in the examination would only be provided with provisional admission on the criteria of them receiving the requisite percentage. These candidates would be provided with a period of 2 years to complete their post graduation degree and achieve the desired results. Also, candidates must appear in the examination of their post graduation degree as provided in the detailed notification available on the website cbsenet.nic.in.
Candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree and had completed their master’s level examination by 19th September 1991 are eligible for a relation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
