Lucknow: The family feud of Samajwadi Party has reached to extreme edge as Akhilesh Yadav sacks 4 ministers incuding uncle Shivpal Yadav and OP Singh from UP govt.
According to legislators present at Akhilesh’s meet, the chief minister was very clear that whoever sides with Amar Singh will be out of the Uttar Pradesh government. “The CM made it clear that if anyone comes in between Mulayam and him, he won’t take it quietly.” When asked about who else was sacked, the minister said the information will be made public soon.
They, however, said at the moment, Akhilesh Yadav is not planning to launch his own party.
The development comes as a jolt to the efforts at truce between the two warring factions in the ruling Samajwadi Party. Yesterday, party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had met his top leaders, including son Akhilesh and brother Shivpal in an attempt to broker peace.
The differences between Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal have become public since September. Sharp differences in the Yadav family were open on Tuesday as Akhilesh shunted out Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal, considered close to Shivpal, barely two months after his appointment. This set off a chain of developments that saw the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav ousting his son as the state party chief and replacing him with Shivpal.
Hours after Mulayam made his brother and senior cabinet minister the UP unit head of the ruling party, in an angry retort, Akhilesh clipped his uncle’s wings by stripping him of the plum PWD, irrigation, cooperatives, flood control, land development and water resources, wasteland development, revenue, disaster relief and rehabilitation, and public service management portfolios.
Political experts see this as the emergence of a new Samajwadi. A party that is not governed by the family patriarch and like a family business. Amid chants of “Akhilesh Bhaiyya aage badho”, supporters of the chief minister raised slogans supporting him and said that Akhilesh is loved by everyone and party insiders should support him and not work against him.
Ram Gopal’s letter
The letter went on to elaborate that “our approach is positive, theirs is negative. With the Chief Minister are people who have shed their blood for the party, faced insults whereas on the other side are those people who have earned thousands of crores of rupees, indulged in immoral acts and misused power. Some people indulge in mediation to fool the public and issue statements”.
The letter ends by saying, “There is no need to be misguided. The Rath Yatra is thorn in the opponents’ neck, we need to make it more sharp. Those opposing Akhilesh will not see the face of the Vidhan Sabha. Don’t be afraid, don’t be upset. Victory is where Akhilesh is”.
