A building in Shimla collapsed killing a person and injuring six others. Reported from Shimla’s Theog town, rescue operations are reportedly underway and the injured have been taken to hospital for medical care.

As per latest reports, the reason for the collapse is not yet known, with volunteers and authorities are trying to clean up the space and complete the rescue operations as soon as possible. Identity of the deceased has not been revealed yet.

Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed the area of the building surrounded by Disaster Management officials. A fire engine can also be seen in the picture. Civilians were seen helping the authority in rescuing the injured.

The police are investigating the matter. No official response from the police is available yet. More information about the incident is awaited.

This tragedy comes days after a report by National Centre for Seismology (NCS) cited Shimla among the other places in India which are highly prone to earthquakes.

Shimla also witnessed a bus accident last month. Fifteen passengers were killed and nine injured when the bus rolled into a 700-metre deep gorge in Rampur area of Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway today. The bus was carrying about 40 persons and was on its way from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Nauni in Solan.
