Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi was on Wednesday admitted to a hospital to undergo a minor procedure, an official said.
The nonagenarian leader “has been admitted for a minor procedure — change of (Percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy) PEG tube.
He will be discharged from the hospital later on Wednesday,” Kauvery Hospital Executive Director S Aravindan said in a statement.
The veteran leader was previously admitted in December to undergo a tracheotomy, a procedure where a hole is made in the windpipe to remove fluid congestions caused by a bacterial infection and administer oxygen, to help optimise breathing.
The veteran leader has been ill since last year due and has been getting treatment at his Gopalapuram residence in Chennai.
