Sonakshi plays the role of a student who has shifted cities – from Jodhpur to Mumbai – in Akira. The film also stars filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap as a corrupt cop and actress Konkona Sen Sharma in a key role.

Akira will mark Sonakshi’s second collaboration with director A R Murugadoss, who previously made Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty with the actress and Akshay Kumar. The movie will also star Sonakshi’s father, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha. The movie is set to release on September 2.
