Hindi cinema Amitabh Bachchan took a dig at author Shobhaa De, though without naming her, after shuttler PV Sindhu qualified for women’s badminton singles final late Thursday evening.

While Twitter was abuzz with congratulatory messages for Sindhu for her stellar performance, Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet clearly stood out.

“Aap “khaali haath” nahin, medal leke wapas aa rahin hain aur hum aapke saath ‘selfie’ nikalne chahate hain, (You will be coming back with a medal and not ’empty handed’. And I would like to click a selfie with you),” Bachchan tweeted shortly after Sidhu’s historic win against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara.

A few days ago, Shobhaa De had mocked the Indian Olympians at Rio and said, “Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. (Go to Rio, take selfies and come back with empty hands) What a waste of money and opportunity”.
